DIVING IN PUERTO DEL CARMEN WRECKS, LANZAROTE
Ghosts of a submerged port
A dive recommended for lovers of wrecks. In a single dive you can visit the remains of up to six wrecks. Interestingly, the shallower ones are the best preserved and even one of them protrudes from under the rocks of the jetty itself, offering a completely unusual panorama.
The remains of the boats offer a completely different landscape than any other dive on the island, making it a popular dive for divers who visit Lanzarote for the first time.
It is convenient that we visit first the deepest wrecks to finish the immersion in the shallowest. The wreck located further east still retains its large propeller about 38 m deep.
Among the remains we will find typical cave animals such as scrapers, alfonsitos and even catalufas. We recommend paying special attention to the sand because it is easy to see pooches, tablecloths, sea eagles, torpedoes and angels. It is entertaining to try to identify each of the six wrecks while we explore the bottom in search of the fauna of the area.
